The Tawayama Tunnel route, which suffered extensive damage and became impassable due to the Kumamoto Earthquake, is currently undergoing disaster recovery construction as a national government-led project. This work covers approximately 10 kilometers of the Kumamoto-Takamori Prefectural Road between Komori in Nishihara Village and Kawain in Minami Aso Village. This project aims to ensure the smooth flow of logistics in the Aso region, promote tourism, and guarantee safe passage during the winter by expediting the restoration of the damaged sections of the Tawarayama Tunnel and the landslide areas at the tunnel entrances. We were responsible for the mortar spraying work on the slope protection of the tunnel entrance after cutting and shaping the landslide-affected area. We successfully completed the work within the time frame which was the end of the year, allowing the route to reopen on December 24, 2016. After the reopening, we continued with the construction of the frame work at the tunnel entrance (approximately 10,300 m) and completed the project successfully. (Location: Kumamoto) |
