In preparation for a major earthquake, there is a growing demand for seismic retrofitting of existing structures in urban areas, and Tokyo is undergoing route strengthening in preparation for the Olympics.

Among them, the reinforcement of monorail bridge piers’ foundations had limited options of reinforcement method because of the site’s small space and overhead restrictions. Our jet grouting method has been adopted as aseismic reinforcement design, where reinforced concrete is placed inside a steel shell submerged in the sea, creating a composite structure similar to a caisson foundation.
