In preparation for major earthquakes, the demand for seismic retrofitting of existing structures has been increasing in urban areas, and Tokyo had strengthen transportation lines for preparation for the Olympics.

Within the preparation project, there were reinforcement of monorail bridge piers’ foundations that had limited options of reinforcement method because of the site’s small space and overhead restrictions.

JETCRETE, our jet grouting method was adopted because it can fit the site restrictions above, also it can fulfil seismic reinforcement design that creates a composite structure similar to a caisson foundation by placing reinforced concrete within the steel shell in the underwater section.
