Disaster Prevention

Embankment reinforcement

In Japan, as a country with frequent earthquake, a number of unprecedented disasters, including the Great Hanshin Earthquake, Chuetsu Earthquake, and Great East Japan Earthquake, have occurred in recent years. Experts state that similar major earthquakes may occur at any time in specific regions. Recent recurring sediment disasters caused by torrential rains have caused serious damage and fatalities. Many locations remain keenly vulnerable to such disasters.

With our accumulated know-how, we can offer comprehensive disaster preparedness solutions.

Protecting a power plant from tsunami

Seawall installation for Hamaoka Nuclear Power Plant (West construction area)

The Hamaoka Nuclear Power Station of Chubu Electric Power Company is building a seawall to prevent flooding due to tsunamis in the event of a major earthquake. We used Underground Diaphragm Wall to construct foundations to withstand wave force applied to the seawall in the event of a tsunami.

Aseismic reinforcement of storm surge barriers on the right bank of Sumida River (upstream and downstream from Komagata-bashi Bridge)

As part of the Koto-ku river and canal improvement project, works on aseismic reinforcement are underway to ensure that the storm surge barriers function properly, even in the event of the most powerful earthquake. We completed an aseismic reinforcement work (JETCRETE) of the storm surge barriers using a compact machine that reflects our key characteristics and that allows work from inside the slope.
